Description
Tatsoi Cabbage (Brassica rapa subsp. narinosa) is a delicious Asian green that grows easily in the mild subtropical winters. Enjoy fresh from the garden or stir fry in your favorite recipes.
Tatsoi (or Tat Choy) is related to bok choy, and offers spoon-shaped, bright green leaves that spiral outward. It also saves on garden space, growing about 8 to 10 inches tall, with a spreading habit of about 12 inches.
Pick and eat when fully developed or cut and come again by removing outer leaves when they reach about 4 to 5” long.
Spicy and crispy with a slightly nutty flavor, you can steam it, sauté it, or add to sauces and soups. Pick when leaves are small to add to other salad greens.
Heirloom, non-GMO variety – allow some to bloom to feed the bees and collect the seeds!

TIPS FOR GERMINATION
Sow indoors or under cover in large cell trays 4 weeks before planting out for best results. Sow at ¼ inch depth and keep cells moist. Tatsoi will germinate in a wide range of temperatures, from 50 to 80 degrees Fahrenheit. Thin seedlings to one per cell.
Plant out when two sets of true leaves have formed. Space 12-18 inches apart in well-draining soil. Provide a balanced, slow-dissolving granular fertilizer upon planting out.
Keep soil moist during the first week while the plant establishes. Then, provide at least 1 inch of water per week. Mulch root zone to help retain moisture.
Feed plants diluted nitrogen-rich fertilizer every two weeks during active growth.
