Description

Florida Giant Watermelon is a rounded variety that grows 15″ around or more. The mature fruits can weigh 30-50 pounds, even though they mature in only 90-100 days.

Featuring a dark green rind and bright red and juicy interior, you can grow Florida Giants anywhere, as long as you plant at the right time of year.

This heat-loving watermelon thrives in warm climates, making it an ideal choice for home gardeners in Southern regions

Our Florida Giant watermelon seeds are open-pollinated heirlooms, developed in Florida in the 1940s. So they’ll thrive in the late summer heat. (And you can save the seeds for spring planting, too!)

TIPS FOR GERMINATION

You can plant watermelon seeds in either small pots or soil blocks or directly in the ground. To start indoors or under cover, use large soil blocks or small (3″) nursery pots with a seed starting mix that is not too dense or heavy. Sow seeds about 1/2 inch deep. Keep soil moist with misting or bottom watering until germination occurs. Keep warm at about 70°F to 80°F.
