Question 1

When should I plant Blue Star Morning Glory seeds?

Accepted Answer

Start seeds indoors 6 to 8 weeks before the last spring frost or direct sow outdoors after all danger of frost has passed and soil warms to 70 to 85 degrees Fahrenheit. Morning glories are warm-season annuals that do not tolerate frost.

Question 2

How do I prepare Blue Star Morning Glory seeds for planting?

Accepted Answer

Nick the hard seed coat with a sharp knife and soak seeds overnight in warm water before planting to speed germination. This helps water penetrate the tough outer coating and improves germination rates.

Question 3

How tall do Blue Star Morning Glory vines grow?

Accepted Answer

Blue Star Morning Glory vines grow 10 feet or more in a single season. The fast-growing vines require substantial support such as a fence, trellis, or arbor to climb.

Question 4

Why do morning glory flowers only last one day?

Accepted Answer

Morning glory flowers open with the morning sun and close at sunset, lasting only one day. However, the plant produces abundant new blooms continuously throughout late summer and fall, ensuring constant color.

Question 5

Do Blue Star Morning Glories attract pollinators?

Accepted Answer

Yes, Blue Star Morning Glory attracts bees, butterflies, and hummingbirds throughout the blooming season. The large, colorful trumpet-shaped flowers provide nectar for beneficial pollinators.
