Jade Pothos Care

Pothos is extremely tolerant of most growing conditions. However, for optimum health, provide an adequate-sized pot only slightly larger than your root mass. Make sure the container has adequate drainage holes.

Use potting soil with plenty of organic matter. Once transplanted into the new container, water in well. Afterward, water whenever the top inch or two of the soil becomes dry.

Place your pothos in a comfortable indoor spot that receives anything from very low light to bright shade. The amount of sunlight it gets may effect the depth of leaf color.

Allow your plant a week or two to recover from shipment and acclimate to its new home.

Once established in its new container, fertilize once every two or three months. Pothos also occasionally benefit from a brief shower or misting to help keep the leaves clean.

Pothos can also be kept outdoors in warm weather and can make lovely hanging patio plants on shady porches.

However, avoid planting your pothos into the ground, even if you live in a subtropical or tropical climate. They are considered an “exotic invasive” in the landscape in some areas of the country.
